Save yourself is another topic that I started to write about before my awakening experience. I realized after years of dealing with anxiety and depression that I had to do the work internally. There was no one who was going to save me from me. Believe me, I thought if I had just the right amount of money, if I just owned a home, if I were happily married, or had the right career, everything would be okay. Well, what I learned was a hard lesson in struggling against the nature of things. That nature being that everything begins within!
After my awakening experience, I realized the power to heal was within me the entire time. However, the suffering I had long endured was part of my journey. Isaiah 48:10 KJV states “Behold, I have refined thee, but not with silver; I have chosen thee in the furnace of affliction.” Then in Ephesians 4:4, it states, “There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling.”
God Spoke to Me
I’ve mentioned before that I clearly heard God speak to me when I was about 10 years old that I would tell my story one day. I struggled for years to write but then I overcame anxiety and depression. I thought the story was about overcoming suffering. I still couldn’t complete the telling of the story. Then the awakening happened, and I realized that the story was ongoing and would forever be ongoing. That in and of itself is the story, the journey.
Save yourself! You have the power within to do so. There is no one outside of self who will save you. God is within you, like you, and what greater power is there than that. If you are constantly looking on the outside, then you will miss the beauty of who you truly are. We are all on a journey of awakening, however, our points along the journey are different. You will be refined in the furnaces, but it is for your good. You will learn to rise to higher and higher states of consciousness. The suffering will end if you believe that it will and stop looking outside of yourself for a savior.
The inner work isn’t easy, but it is well worth it. Don’t be afraid to take a hard look at yourself, what your underlying beliefs and assumptions are. Do not be afraid to forgive yourself and others. Do not be afraid to face fear and realize that fear is just an illusion. Do not be afraid to take ownership of your life and work to change your story. All things are possible!
