I found myself standing in a swamp while I dreamt on the night of 12/16/20. I grew up on a dairy farm in Florida, so I am familiar with swamps but this one was different. While most swamps are muddy and rather gross, this one turned out to be rather beautiful. When I first realized where I was, I had the distinct feeling that it was either early morning or early evening. There was a calmness in the air, and it was barely light as if the sun were just coming or just going down.
As I said, the swamp was beautiful and looked as though it had been merged with parts of a forest. There were bright green trees intermingled with the smaller, bare looking ones. The water was dark and muddy looking at first but within seconds, I noticed beautiful green lily pads with white flowers covering the water. At first, I was a bit confused but then I noticed a woman walking, almost gliding towards me.
The woman had a green wreath with wildflowers in her hair and she was wearing a beautiful, flowing white dress. Something that was clear is that although she did not look like me, I instinctively knew she was me. As she walked towards me, she said “isn’t it beautiful” and then I think she said “but they are loud” and that’s when I noticed hundreds of bullfrogs with their heads sticking out of the water. So, there I was standing in a swamp and all of the frogs were croaking as they all looked in unison at us. Then the dream ended.
Reflecting on the Dream
When I woke up the following morning, I felt so much peace. The dream was very vivid, probably the most vivid dream I have ever had. It felt as though I had been in a far-off land. The first thought that came to me when I woke up was “famine and the plague” from scripture. Although, for those who take scripture literally, the dream wouldn’t make much sense. But famine means the hunger for the word of God. It is the hunger we have as we begin to awaken. But the frogs, they represented something I could not quite put my finger on. I had a sense that they were wise, otherworldly but I received no further revelation.
That is until I sat down to type this up from my notes. The thought came to me that maybe the frogs are those who have died of the flesh and been reborn, merging with the one diving being “The Ancient of Days.” One thing is for sure, whatever the symbolism in this dream, it was beautiful.
