In this post, I will be discussing verses 19 and 20 in the Gospel of Thomas. (19) Jesus said, “I shall give you what no eye has seen and what no ear has heard and what no hand has touched and what has never occurred to the human mind.” (20) The disciples said to Jesus, “Tell us what the kingdom of heaven is like.” He said to them, “It is like a mustard seed. It is the smallest of all seeds. But when it falls on tilled soil, it produces a great plant and becomes a “shelter for birds of the sky.”
Verse nineteen is also stated in verse seventeen. The power and wisdom of God gives us life in eternity. We cannot conceive of what exists within consciousness (God) with the human senses. The kingdom of heaven exists within man. It truly is like a small seed that needs to be planted and cultivated. The birds of the sky represent an infinite number of ideas (desires). So, cultivate that inner knowingness that you are God and that all things exist. You will begin to see the kingdom of heaven alive within you as you manifest your desires into reality. Any idea that you have can be realized.
