On the night of September 23, 2020, I had several dreams. In the first one, I was with my dad who was shopping for supplies for a trip. He was browsing in one section as I was off in another section of the store. Although I was in another section of the store, I was aware that my dad took a couple of packages of cinnamon sticks off of the shelf. He then opened them and combined them into a large plastic bag. As my dad combined the cinnamon sticks into one bag without a barcode, I came up behind him and put one of the smaller bags with the barcode inside the large one.
In the next dream, my dad and I were in the woods. It had the same peaceful vibe as a previous dream I had of being in a swamp. So, my dad and I were in the woods and there was a horse there as well. As my dad was busy setting a fire when the horse laid down in what looked like a dog bed. The horse seemed “proud” and happy as if it had done an important, noble job at something. Beside the horse on the ground was the plastic bag with the barcode but the cinnamon sticks (incense) were missing. My dad seemed to be looking for them and asking, “where are they?” I was looking at the horse curled up with its body perfectly filling up the area of the dog bed and instinctively knew that he was hiding the incense, It was as though it were a game, and the horse knew something we did not.
In the third dream, I believe I’m at a campsite and I see a guy I used to date holding a baby. I start talking to him as he is holding his sleeping baby girl. I ask him about the woman he dated after me and he said they got married and had a baby. I congratulated him and then the baby woke up. He held her up and smiled at her. Then I was holding her, and she looked at me with the biggest grin and jet-black curly hair. Then I said, “oh, she’s so sweet. She’s beautiful.” And that was the end of the dream.
As I was writing down the dream in my dream journal, the vision of a similar dream came to mind. I don’t know if I ever recorded it though. In this dream that was coming back to me, I was in a store shopping in the clothing section. However, at some point, I found myself in the candy aisle. Then I was also at the fitting rooms trying on clothes. I don’t know why I began recalling that dream. There was also a whole scene where I was in the shoe section. I don’t recall the details, only the vivid sense of being in that part of the store.
As I wrote the part down about the cinnamon sticks the morning after the dream, the word incense came to mind. I then felt an urge to look up incense in the bible. There are a lot of verses and as I read through them, but the meaning of incense did not immediately come to mind.
The word cinnamon is mentioned in the bible in Revelation 18:13, Exodus 30:23, Proverbs 7:17. And Song of Songs 4:14. I don’t know if this means anything in relation to the dream, but cinnamon is derived from the word Cassia and Cassis can be translated to Hebrew Kiddah (i.e., “split”). Again, I don’t know in its entirety what the cinnamon truly represented in the dream
Finally, on December 4, 2020, as I transcribed these dreams into a word document to eventually post on my blog; the horse and incense really stood out to me, so I looked up the word horse in Hebrew and it is spelled sus, which has an origin in the name root Yehoshua which means “God rescues, Yahweh is salvation.” In the bible, it talks about the colt that Jesus’ rode into Jerusalem. In Hebrew one of the translations of a horse is donkey or ass. Neville states that the colt (ass) is the mood you are going to assume. So, we are Jesus that rode the colt into Jerusalem and the colt is the mood we assume.
